Kaal Sarp Dosh is formed when all seven planets of the horoscope fall on one side of the Rahu–Ketu axis. The chart appears squeezed, and the shastras describe the native's efforts as being held back by an unseen coil.
The twelve types
Depending on which houses Rahu and Ketu occupy, the dosh is named Anant, Kulik, Vasuki, Shankhpal, Padma, Mahapadma, Takshak, Karkotak, Shankhachud, Ghatak, Vishdhar or Sheshnag. Each affects a different area of life — Kulik touches wealth, Takshak touches marriage, Vishdhar touches health.
Effects seen in daily life
Repeated obstacles just before success, disturbed sleep, dreams of snakes, long delays in marriage, and money that arrives but does not stay. None of these alone confirms the dosh; only the kundali does.
How the Nivaran Puja is performed
The devotee bathes at Kushavarta kund and takes the sankalp in his own name and gotra. Ganesh, the navgrahas and the kalash devatas are invoked, silver naag-naagin pratimas are worshipped with milk, honey and durva, and the ritual closes with Rudrabhishek of the Jyotirlinga, havan and purnahuti.
